This portfolio is a sample of my work throughout the Humanities program at Davidson College. My theme, A.I. art and its implications, was born out of our studies in Humes as well as my own interests.
My fall portfolio working theme was “Finding beauty in the small things.” I believe that small beauties abound in life, and through them it is possible to encounter meaning. These small beauties come in many forms; they are entirely subjective and may appear in unexpected places or situations. I sought to explore the small things in my portfolio and how they connected to our studies of the human condition.
In my final portfolio, I decided to change my theme but keep the focus on beauty in a way that would incorporate some of our work in Humes. As somebody with an interest in visual arts, I combined our A.I. unit with that interest to arrive at the theme “A.I. art and its implications.” While A.I. doesn’t qualify as a “small thing,” examining its consequences can help us strive to appreciate small beauties more, and perhaps small beauties can be found in technological advancements like A.I.

I would like to thank all of the professors involved in teaching the Humes program: Dr. Marcus Pyle, Dr. David Robb, Dr. Patricio Boyer, Dr. Amanda Ewington, and especially Dr. Sharon Green, Dr. Alison Bory, Dr. Mark Sample, and Dr. Anne Wills, who were my section leaders. Each professor contributed to the knowledge I gained during this class and to the inspiration for my own work. I would also like to thank the Humes fellows and my ATs, Naman and Aidan, for their continued assistance over the course of the year.
